Almost everyone these days who does not already own an MP3 player of some kind is probably thinking of buying one. Many will want just an mp3 player but many others will be more interested in a full-on digital media player which will show images and play video rather than just mp3 music tracks.

The type of mp3 player required will depend on what it is to be used for. If you are trying to get or stay fit and regularly visit the gym or go running in the park then the ability to replay music in a very small portable unit, such as the iPod Shuffle, is probably all you need.

If you prefer to watch music videos instead of just listening to music tracks or if you are a film buff and want to watch movies on your mp3 player then you will need video replay functionality. This is now found on most mp3 players, including most of Apple’s iPod range, such as the iPod Classic, iPod Touch and more recently the iPod Nano.

An mp3 player, which can also display images and photographs, will be of great use to any level of photographer whether professional or amateur. When on location or later back home it is now very easy to transfer digital photos from a digital camera to a mp3 player that has the required functionality for photographic storage. This is a great way to back up photos as secure copies.

Whatever you want to do with your new mp3 player you will need to ensure that you can do what you want with the model you buy and that it is easy to transfer digital media from the sources you want to use. For instance all iPod users will want to connect to the iTunes store to buy and download music, movies and podcasts. It will be the same for other mp3 players, so check this out before buying.

You can also use some mp3 players as backup media for your personal computer, but the player you choose will have to have a high storage capacity to enable you to do this. A model like the Apple iPod Classic 80gb would be ideal for this. Make sure that the relevant software is available to help you undertake transfers of documents and files from your computer hard drive.

As with everything you get what you pay for, so if you need more functionality from your mp3 player it is going to cost you more to get it. There are many different manufacturers and models of mp3 players available and you should go online to do your research and to find the best deal. There you will find the biggest choice and detailed information on the most recent models.

The power of moving pictures is here to stay. It’s just that with every passing year, the way we view it, record it and store it becomes more and more technologically advanced.

In 1980 the introduction of VCRs enabled viewers to record the material of their choice pretty easily and comfortably. Now, with the advent of DVD as the storage media, DVD recorders have come into the picture. DVD records are manufactured to record high quality material on DVD in a similar fashion as the conventional VCR did on tapes or cassettes. The most trusted name in DVD recorders is Panasonic but there are other manufacturers too with the same configuration of either hard drive or DVD-RAM/DVD-R/DVD-RW. Some of them come with both functions.

The HDTV – High Definition DVD Recorders functionality is extended, owing to the rapid advances in Internet technology, to functional compatibility with the PC. The ultimate vision is the capability of connecting the PC to the new HDTV and high definition players and recorders. Computer connectivity with recorders is a necessity due to the change in lifestyle of users. Consumers today want the functionality of transferring and viewing digital photos, videos or full Hollywood movies content anywhere within the home. The easy accessibility of the Internet even while away from home, be it a laptop on the road, train or remote hotel, makes users wish to access and record their personalized content and then store it or mail it just like a text based file. All these and many more user wishes are granted with the promising and affordable convergence between TV, PC and the Internet. The high end advanced technology is within easy access to everyone and is very practical in terms of usage.

Reputable companies like Toshiba (HD-DVD), Samsung (Blu-ray) and others offer the latest high definition DVD players with the Blu-Ray Recordable features, for a very reasonable price. The initial Sony’s Blu-Ray Recorder with a price tag of about $3,000 for the past two years didn’t find many buyers. But the future of the Blu-Ray Recorder looks very promising with the launching of many new models.

Sony will soon launch its exotic laptop in the Vaio line with an in-built Blu-Ray

Player. Priced at about $3,600, this product looks expensive, but with the offered 17in screen, this product would soon find its fans among serious video lovers.

The process of connecting the laptop to an HDTV is very easy. It requires an HDTV card (such as ATI’s Wonder card), a simple software installation and with the use of a special cable, the PC can be connected to the component or HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) connectors on the set. The future connections should be done using an Ethernet which does more than just transfer firmware to the HDTV.

The recently launched AMEX – Digital MPC-505BD Media Center PC with Blu-ray recorder records into Blu-ray DVDs using the Windows Media Edition-enabled device. The recorder comes with a 7.1 channel audio and a hybrid analog/digital DVB-T TV tuner and a hard disk storage capacity of a terabyte. This unit can easily function as a Blu-ray DVD player/recorder and PC in one that can be connected to an HDTV.

The Sony Ericsson W610i is a music lover’s dream mobile phone. The built-in music features make use of the Walkman concept to make this truly a music focused handset. A sizable 1.9 inch colour display screen is perfect for keeping track of all the music information stored within. The TFT type colour screen has a ultra high resolution of 176 by 220 pixels.

The casing is 46 mm by 102 mm by 14 mm deep and shows off two options of stylish color. Satin black or plush orange choices means that the handset is very eye catching.

The music keys are easy to access but discreet and the stylish and subtle keypad and navigation controls couldn’t be easier to operate. The Walkman motif appears just below the keypad and is proof that this mobile phone remains focused on music.

A 512 MB Memory Stick PRO Duo(TM) M2(TM) memory card which is included in the kit means that users only must unpack the kit to begin storing their music.A larger capacity memory can be purchased which increases the phone memory up to 2 GB of storage.

The Sony Ericsson W610i is a proud member of the Walkman music collection by Sony Ericsson. This group includes several high quality music and media oriented mobile phones.

The dedicated Walkman key allows the user to instantly access the built in Walkman music player. Music options such as playlists, equalisers, shuffle, fast forward, rewind and play make each user’s listening habits perfectly expressed on the phone. MP3, AAC and all other popular music formats are supported by the Walkman player.

The sound recording feature makes it possible to record voice recordings easily and quickly. A track identification feature is included and is also quick and easy to use. It works by holding the phone near a speaker which is performing the unknown song. TrackID(TM) records a few bars of the song and sends it to the Gracenote(TM) database where it will be identified and the information returned to the user.

Use of the PlayNow ringtones feature allows the user to purchase new MP3 or polyphonic ringtones. The MegaBass feature allows you to adjust the bass to match the style of music preferred by the user.

The intensification of clip culture has lead to the evolution of audio and video clips. Clip culture refers to Internet viewing and sharing of short videos. The popularity of video clips has grown manifold thanks to the growing clip culture. Video clips are streamed video segments and clippings often excerpted from larger videos. They have duration of less than fifteen minutes and show particular moments of significance or noteworthiness from the original video. Video clips are often streamed from news recordings, movies, music videos, and television serials. Video clips help promising camera operators, producers, and video developers to enhance their careers.

Motivational video clips are based on the aspect of inspiring viewers to give stimulus to a particular courageous behavior. These video clips are generally derived from award winning documentaries, motivational films, courageous stories, and motivational speeches. Some of them may be based on interviews of admired personalities who have inspired many individuals all over the nation through their work. Motivational video clips help to stretch the thinking and working capacity of individuals to achieve desired goals by making complete use of their potential. Many motivational speakers employ video producers to develop video clips to encourage the audience to think positively and be confident about their talent.

Motivational video clips are viewed by a large number of people who need a change in their thinking and mode of behavior to achieve better results and improve their lifestyle on the whole.

Motivational video clips are available in different formats on the Internet and a few other sources. The video format of the video clip may range from MPEG and AVI to MOV and WMV formats, and can be viewed using most of the common media players. A large collection of motivational video clips can be availed of online at different websites and can be downloaded free of charge. Some websites may however charge for the download depending on the quality and popularity of the video clip.

While the iMac G5’s software interface for multimedia – Front Row – is new to the Mac platform. Windows users have had similar tools – in Microsoft’s Windows XP Media Center Edition – for a couple of years now. Is it possible that, as Front Row matures, it could learn a thing or two from Windows?

Feel the music

For music, Front Row gives you a large, text only interface with few options. You can shuffle the playback order of songs and search by several criteria. You can’t create playlists, but you can access playlists you’ve already created in iTunes. And you can’t browse internet radio stations, but you can access stations you’ve bookmarked in iTunes.

Media Center gives you those same navigational and playback tools, and then goes a couple of steps further. It shows album artwork and also provides a search engine that will show results as you enter characters on the remote control. Some Media Center PCs have over-the-air radio tuners, but the software will also let you access internet radio stations.

You can’t browse or buy new songs through Front Row; for that, you must use iTunes. Media Center displays a prominent ‘Buy Music’ button once you start playback, but clicking on it calls up a page of albums and a ‘Not designed for Media Center’ message. In other words, it doesn’t work any better than Front Row.

DVDs on the menu

Because the iMac G5’s remote has only six buttons, the fast-forward and fast-rewind buttons must do double duty as chapter advancing buttons. And you can’t adjust the volume until after you begin playback. DVD playback is pretty simple, but you will find out that the wrong buttons are often pressed.

The remote control supplied with Media Center PCs has dedicated buttons for nearly every DVD function, so it is easy to look at the remote and pick exactly what you want to do. The interface is quite snappy, so you’ll always get confirmation that button presses has registered.

Straight to video

Front Row gives you easy access to movie files and video podcasts stored on your iMac, and to movie trailers stored on Apple’s servers. You can play back TV shows, too, but you have to use iTunes to find and purchase them. Everything playbacks in full-screen window, which makes the 320 240 pixel TV shows look pretty fuzzy.

Media Center lets you play back videos of all sorts on your PC, and lets you burn them to CD or DVD with a couple of clicks. But it also gives you access to tons of online content, including movies from CinemaNow (www.cinemanow.com), pre-recorded television shows from Akimbo.com, and news broadcasts from Reuters and other services. One huge irritation with Media Center is that clicking on some buttons calls up ads for paid content.

But when it comes to television, Media Center’s biggest advantage over Apple’s offerings is that you can connect a Media Center PC to a TV, often through high quality component connections. Media Center plays, pauses, and records television programmes; if the PC has a TV-tuner card with two tuners, it simultaneously record two programmes and play back a third.

You can add an external TV tuner and digital video recorder, such as Elgato Systems’ EyeTV, to the iMac G5, but Front Row won’t have anything to do with it.

Currently, you can view over-the-air High-Definition (HD) broadcasts only with Media Center, and then only if the PC’s TV and supports HD. Microsoft recently announced that Media Center PCs with CableCard support will appear by Christmas; those systems should be able to play, pause, and record HDTV programmes, without the need for a set-top cable box.

A Media Center PC particularly outdoes the iMac in one area: it can’t act as a server, distributing content (including time-shifted television) to other devices throughout the house. Those devices include Media Center Extenders and the new Xbox 360, which has built-in wireless networking.

Playing catch-up

When it comes to controlling a multimedia computer, OS X isn’t anywhere near Windows XP Media Center Edition. But Media Center has been around for more than three years; comparing the fledgling Front Row to it is about as fair as comparing a bicycle to a BMW. And Apple’s success with digital audio players – which weren’t new when it began selling them – shows that the company can enter a product category and outdo the competition by offering better features and more style.

Clearly, Mac users are not going to be buying Media Center-equipped PCs anytime soon (and the same is true for Windows users and iMacs). But if Front Row picks up some of the extra features that Media Center has acquired over the years, those users may soon have reason to be very, very happy.

If you are hesitant about buying wireless outdoor speakers, here are four good things about it so you can cast all your doubts and proceed to buying them. These are the types of speakers that are the best replacement to the battered and old wired speaker system that you have. If you believe that now is the high time to change your devices, then this is your better option.

The four special features of these speakers are as follows:

Wide transmission area

The first concern about wireless devices would be their range. How strong will the signal be? And up to what point can it go? Will the wireless range reach the front porch and the backyard? These questions have to be answered before you proceed to buy any wireless device. To have a good estimate of the speaker’s range, check its specifications. An acceptable range is usually 100 feet or more. Anything beyond that is best. Some devices can go up to 300 feet in range. The longer the range, the better it performs.

Durable

Outdoor speakers have to be resilient. For starters, they will be exposed to the weather. Humidity and the cold weather can do damage to speakers if they are not built for the wide outdoors. Well, wireless outdoor speakers are exactly that. They can be subjected to the cold and warm weather, wet or dry seasons without any problem. However, being weatherproof doesn’t mean the same as waterproof. So don’t make the mistake of leaving these devices in the rain. That would ruin the device for sure.

Compatibility

These speakers don’t need another wireless device or audio player for it to work. More often than not, the box containing wireless outdoor speakers contains an adaptor that would easily fit into the speaker port of any audio playing device. You just have to plug that to your existing CD player, media player, or even a television set. And it would work seamlessly with the wireless speakers. No special installation required even.

Rechargeable

Wireless devices need power to work. And because they don’t have wires, they would have to be supplied by power from batteries. But don’t worry about that either. You don’t have to buy cells every time you want the wireless outdoor speakers to work. These devices are fully equipped with rechargeable battery cells or solar panels so it can store the power it needs. These devices can work up to a maximum of eight hours on a single charge.

Kenwood tested out the double DIN in-dash navigation market with the DNX7100 in early 2007. Upon discovering its success, Kenwood continued its pursuit for supremacy in the car audio industry with the introduction of three 2008 DNX Series in-dash navigation: the DNX5120, DNX7120, and DNX8120.

All three of these units feature a built-in Garmin GPS navigation system with over 6 million points of interest for maps of the United States (including Hawaii), Canada, and even Puerto Rico. In addition, the DNX units could give users voice guidance of street names and upcoming turns. The in dash head unit could also receive XM live traffic as well as weather information and display them on the screen

The DNX Series receivers features either a 6.1″ touchscreen LCD monitor on the DNX5120 or on a 6.95″ touchscreen LCD monitor on both the DNX7120 and the DNX 8120. They’re impressively vivid and bright, which allows drivers to navigate using the screen much better in direct sunlight. The DNX units also allow users to change the user interface themes so that it would better fit you and the interior of your car.

Not only are they in-dash navigation units, they’re also versatile multimedia players capable of DVD, DVD±R/RW, DivX, VCD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, AAC (Apple iTunes), MP3, WMA, and JPEG playback with automatic NTSC or PAL color system switching. Moreover, the DNX receivers are Satellite Radio, HD Radio, iPod, and even Bluetooth Ready with additional accessories. It has a front panel 3.5mm input and additional rear USB and RCA auxiliary inputs which gives users the option of adding additional source devices such as portable media player or plug-and-play satellite receivers.

The only difference between the Kenwood DNX8120 and the Kenwood DNX7120 is the 2-year warranty tagged on to the eXcelon name that is associated with the DNX8120 instead of its regular version, the DNX7120. In addition, the DNX8120 features 5V preamp outputs, and not just the typical 2V outputs that is featured on the DNX7120.

If you’re looking for a great in-dash navigation receiver with multimedia playback that will also allow you to expand with Satellite Radio, HD Radio, iPod, and Bluetooth devices, the Kenwood DNX Series double DIN head units are what you’re looking for!
